Capacitance Offset Calibration (Optional)

This calibration procedure applies to all models (34460A/61A/65A/70A).

This calibration is normally not required. It compensates for residual capacitance offset which is typically less than a few pF. In normal use, any residual offset will be overridden by the null function (null also corrects for cable capacitance), and the null function is required to achieve the multimeter’s capacitance specification.

Configuration: Capacitance

  1. Remove all connections from the instrument's front terminals.
  2. Select the front terminals.
  3. Enter a calibration value of +0 (see Entering Calibration Values). A Calibration Step Succeeded message indicates success; if the display shows Calibration Step Failed, check the input value, range, function, and entered calibration value and repeat the calibration step.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the instrument's rear terminals (not applicable to the 34460A).
  5. Store the new calibration constants (see Storing the Calibration Constants).
